Premature skin aging
Some of the most common issues related to skin aging
Many of the external causes of aging skin are determined by your overall health and lifestyle. Unhealthy choices can cause premature skin aging and this will make you look older much faster than expected.
An important part of any program anti-aging skin care is to know what can harm the skin, and which are the factors that accelerate skin aging in general.
Give up smoking
If you smoke or spend time with a smoker have to know that cigarette smoke will accelerate skin aging. Research has shown that exposure to cigarette smoke significantly emphasizes wrinkles and dry skin. This is partly caused by cigarette smoke, but also by the fact that it depletes vitamin C levels in the body, a key ingredient for maintaining skin moisture and elasticity.
It has been found that people who smoke for a longer period tend to have a yellowish hue, unhealthy skin. In addition, it was shown that smokers around the age of 20 years already present wrinkles when observed under a microscope.
Limit sun exposure
Sun exposure accentuates the aging process of the skin. Unprotected skin exposed to the sun has a speckled appearance. Freckles can turn into brown spots and the skin will look dry, wrinkled and it will become less elastic. The risk of skin cancer increases significantly after prolonged sun exposure too.
If you want to avoid skin aging, but wish to sunbathe, use sunscreen designed to protect you against both UVA and UVB rays (SPF 15 or higher) and use them throughout the year even on cloudy days.
Do physical workouts
A sedentary lifestyle contributes to skin aging. Physical activity should be an important part of a complete skin anti-aging program.
Exposure to cold
Cold winds and low temperatures contribute to aging skin by drying it. Therefore, in such circumstances, it is necessary to use a good moisturizer.
It is important to use moisturizers while you are in a room too, because the air in rooms is heated and encourages dry skin. Consider using a humidifier to keep your skin much healthier and reduce the effects of aging skin.
Avoid stress
You may have heard the expression that should not frown or wrinkles will appear. When a person is stressed and frowns, your facial muscles will tighten for the resulting expression.
To help reduce skin aging caused by stress, you should be aware of the stress levels which occur and try to relax your facial expressions during the day. Maintaining control of stress will help you look and feel younger too.
